When you arrive at our office to pick up the vehicle, you will be asked to present a valid ID and your driver’s license. If you are a resident of a country outside the European Union, you will also be asked to present your passport.
To rent a vehicle, you must hold a valid driver’s license from an EU/EFTA country that authorizes you to drive the type of vehicle you are renting; this license must be presented when you pick up the vehicle. If you are a resident of a country outside the European Union, you must present both your home country’s driver’s license and a valid international driver’s license. As an alternative to an international driver’s license, you may present a driver’s license written in Latin characters that has been translated by an embassy or an equivalent authority.
Puglia by Car allows you to add one or more additional drivers to your rental agreement through the paid “Additional Driver” service. You can purchase this service online at our website www.pugliabycar.it, through the Puglia by Car Reservation Center, or directly at our rental locations when you pick up the vehicle. All additional drivers must be present at the time of vehicle pickup to present their identification and register their driver’s license. Additional drivers must also meet the same age and driver’s license requirements as the primary driver.
All of our vehicles are covered by liability insurance in accordance with current laws, which provides coverage for civil liability toward third parties. Passengers are also covered by liability insurance.
The rental rate includes the standard Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TLW) coverage. The CDW coverage applies to any damage discovered at the end of the rental period. Any charge for such damage, as a penalty, is calculated based on a maximum amount (also known as the Damage Liability) that varies depending on the category of vehicle rented. The TLW coverage applies to any theft of the vehicle during the rental period. Any charge for theft, as a penalty, is similarly calculated based on a fixed amount (also known as Theft Liability) that varies depending on the category of vehicle rented. Puglia by Car, however, allows you to reduce or eliminate your liability for damage or theft of the vehicle through specific packages. You can purchase your package online at our website www.pugliabycar.it, through the Puglia by Car Reservation Center, or directly at our rental stations when picking up the vehicle.
If you have purchased personal insurance from a third-party provider, that coverage applies solely between you and the insurer. We will therefore not be able to take such coverage into account in the event of theft or damage to the rental vehicle. Consequently, your liability to Puglia by Car will remain as set forth in the General Rental Terms and Conditions and in the terms of any insurance coverage you may have purchased.
A credit or debit card is not required as a security deposit for the rental.
You can pay for the rental directly at our office before picking up the vehicle.
Our website accepts payment for rentals using any credit or debit card that supports online purchases. If you’d prefer to pay for your rental in person at our office, you can do so by credit card, debit card, ATM card, prepaid card, or cash, up to a maximum amount of 5,000 euros.
If you provided your flight or train number during the booking process, in the event of a delay to your flight or train, your vehicle will be held for you free of charge until the rental station closes. If your flight is scheduled to land or your train is scheduled to arrive after our office closing time, your reservation will remain active for up to 2 hours and no later than 1:00 a.m. Beyond this time limit, the “Out of Hours” service will incur an additional charge. In any case, for your peace of mind and to help us organize, we ask that you contact your rental office as soon as possible in the event of a delay.
To make changes to your reservation before arriving at our office, you can contact the Puglia by Car Reservation Center or visit one of our rental locations directly. Alternatively, when you pick up your vehicle, you can request a larger vehicle; if one is available, you can rent it by paying a surcharge on-site.
Our vehicles are typically new and in excellent condition. However, if a vehicle has any pre-existing minor damage, this will be noted on the designated form, which is an integral part of the rental agreement. You will be shown this form when you pick up the vehicle and will be asked to sign it to acknowledge receipt. This ensures that you will not be held responsible for such damage when you return the vehicle.
In the event of a breakdown or an accident that renders the vehicle inoperable, you must call our Roadside Assistance, available 24/7, and follow the instructions provided by our operator. You can find the contact number on your rental agreement or on our website. We also recommend that you notify the nearest rental location as soon as possible so that you can resume your journey as quickly as possible.
In the event of an accident, we recommend that you first contact law enforcement to assess the situation and determine liability. If this is not possible, you must fill out the CAI form (Amicable Accident Report) provided in the vehicle. You must then send an electronic copy of the CAI form to the rental office as soon as possible and submit the paper copy when you return the vehicle.

In the event of an accident without another party involved, when you return the vehicle, you must inform our staff of the incident. They will assess the extent of the damage and, if possible, estimate the cost. If the vehicle is not drivable, please contact the Puglia by Car Reservation Center.
In the event of vehicle theft, you must immediately contact the Puglia by Car Reservation Center, which will send you a copy of the vehicle registration certificate, required to file a police report. You must then go immediately to a law enforcement agency and file a formal report, ensuring that the correct owner of the vehicle—as indicated in the upper left corner of the registration certificate—is listed. Within 48 hours, you must then go to the Puglia by Car station and hand over the original police report and the vehicle keys to our staff. Our staff will terminate the rental agreement on the date the report and keys are handed over. If necessary, a copy of the report can be provided to you.
Our standard rates include two mileage options: up to 150 km or unlimited. Generally, if you exceed the mileage limit, you will be charged the additional cost per extra kilometer, as specified in the Rental Agreement.
Vehicles from Puglia by Car may be driven in all European Union countries. Driving in all other countries is prohibited.
If you need to exchange your rental car, we recommend visiting the Puglia by Car location. Our staff will provide you with all the assistance you need to find the vehicle that best suits your needs.
To extend your rental or notify us of a delay in returning the vehicle, you can contact the Puglia by Car Reservation Center or our rental locations directly. Rental rates are calculated on a daily basis; therefore, if the requested change results in an extra day, you may be required to pay an additional fee upon returning the vehicle.
You can go to the Puglia by Car return station to return your rental vehicle, even before the scheduled return date. Our staff will handle all the procedures for closing out your rental agreement. Please note, however, that the number of days you save will be deducted from your total, and a penalty fee will be charged for returning the vehicle early.
Do I need to wash the vehicle before returning it? Generally, washing the vehicle before return is not required. However, if the vehicle is excessively dirty on the outside and/or inside, we recommend that you wash it. In such cases, our staff will perform a special cleaning service, for which you may be charged.
Puglia by Car will provide you with a vehicle that has a full tank of fuel, and we ask our customers to return the vehicle with a full tank. If, for any reason, you are unable to refuel the vehicle before returning it, you will be charged for the cost of the missing fuel.
Yes, Puglia by Car allows you to return a vehicle even when the office is closed. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, this service incurs an additional fee.
You can always arrange to return the vehicle to a Puglia by Car location other than the one where you picked it up. If, however, you need to return the vehicle to a Puglia by Car location other than the one specified in the Rental Agreement, please notify the Puglia by Car Reservation Center or the rental office itself as soon as possible so that we can make the necessary arrangements. In these specific cases, you will be required to pay for the service after returning the vehicle.
If any new damage is found on the vehicle at the time of return, our staff will provide you with full details regarding the extent and cost of the damage. You will then have the option to pay any additional costs for the damage at the time of returning the vehicle. For particularly significant damage, the cost will be determined through the preparation of a Certified Technical Estimate, and our Customer Service team will inform you of the billing procedures.
Please contact the rental and return office as soon as possible and provide all the details of your rental agreement and the lost item. Our staff will take steps to locate the item and provide you with instructions on how to pick it up.
Our staff will provide you with a copy of your invoice when you return the vehicle, or we will email it to you at the end of your rental.
The main rental documents will be handed to you immediately after they are issued at our offices, or they will be sent to you by email.
The authority that issued the ticket will send the fine to Puglia by Car, which, however, will not be able to pay it on behalf of the customer.
We will therefore provide the details of the person named on the rental agreement to the authority that issued the fine, which will then resend the citation to you. We will still notify you of the details of the violation via email or regular mail.
